The Cretan Curse V2
A downloadable game for Windows
Backstory
You came to end the threat.
You stayed because the dungeon wouldn’t let you leave.
In The Cretan Curse, you play as a lone knight sent to a cursed village in Crete.
Beneath the crumbling ruins lies a procedurally generated dungeon teeming with danger, decay… and opportunity.
Explore. Fight. Adapt.
Find a blacksmith who still believes in hope. Buy new weapons. Upgrade your gear. Descend.
What it is about
The Cretan Curse is a rogue-like dungeon crawler inspired by the likes of Hades, The Binding of Isaac and Enter the Gungeon.
You’ll explore a procedurally structured dungeon spread across two floors, each with 10 unique rooms that range from intense combat encounters to boss battles. After clearing a room, you’ll choose from a selection of temporary upgrades — much like the branching paths in Hades — adding a strategic layer to each run.
Along the way, you’ll collect coins that can be used to purchase permanent upgrades and unlock new weapons from the blacksmith.
As you progress, you’ll face a wide variety of enemies including melee brawlers, archers, dashers and summoners, culminating in two challenging, hand-designed boss fights.
How it came to be
This game was built as a Professional Aptitude Project (PAP) over several months, combining my passion for games and programming.
Everything — from the room generation logic, weapon system, enemy AI, boss fights, save/load, UI, audio cues, and even the blacksmith’s shop — was hand-built in Unity using C# and other available tools.
The goal? To create a game that feels satisfying to play, yet offers depth and challenge. And to prove to myself that I could.
“You can even express movies and poetry using video games. For those reasons, I've decided to create stories through video games.” – Yoko Taro

Your time, energy, and kindness made a real difference. This game wouldn’t exist in its current form without you.
Thank you for being part of the journey!
